Inserting a Library Block Diagram into an Existing Block Diagram
You can use the Library Browse window to insert any block diagram that is stored in an RBD Diagram Library file into an existing diagram in the System file. Using this insertion method is the same as copying all objects in one diagram in the RBD Table and pasting them into a different diagram in the RBD Table. In this case, the Description field for the library diagram is not copied into the record for the existing System file diagram.
If objects in the library diagram are connected to start and end nodes, these objects are connected to the start and end nodes in the existing System file diagram. Start and end node properties from the library diagram are not copied into the existing System file diagram.
1. In the System file, select the RBD Table to make it active.
2. Select the record into which to insert a diagram from the RBD Diagram Library file.
3. Select the RBD Diagram pane to make it active. The diagram shown in the window can already have diagram objects other than the start and end nodes inserted in it.
4. Select RBD > Browse Libraries. The Library Browse window opens in the pinned mode. For more information about this auto-hide window, see Library Browse Window.
5. In its Search window, do the following:
a. For Search for, select RBD Diagrams.
b. Supply the search criteria to use. For more information, see RBD Diagrams Search Criteria.
If you do not enter any search criteria, when you initiate the search, all diagrams in enabled RBD Diagram Library files are retrieved and shown in the Results window.
c. To initiate the search, click Search or press Enter.
Search Button
Enabled RBD Diagram Library files are searched for diagram matches, and search results are shown in the Results window.
6. In its Results window, do the following:
a. Locate the library diagram to insert.
b. Click the row with the diagram and hold down the mouse button while dragging the mouse cursor over to the RBD Diagram pane in the System file. A diagram icon is attached to the mouse cursor.
c. Release the mouse button to drop the diagram into the RBD Diagram pane.
The copy-and-paste procedure is performed. The Library Browse window remains open in case you want to insert additional library diagrams into the System file.
7. When you are finished inserting library diagrams into the System file, close the Library Browse window.
Once the diagram is inserted in your System file, you may need to modify it to better reflect the operation of your system. For more information, see Block Diagram How-Tos.
