Vibration Screening Options
The Infant Mortality - Vibration pane provides for specifying information about any vibration screening that was performed. The following table describes the options in this pane.
Option
Description
Vibration Screening
The type of vibration screening that is performed. Choices are:
No Vibration Screening — When selected (default), no vibration screening is performed. Percent Failures from Vibration is the only option available. If any other item is selected, all options are available.
Random Vibration — When selected random vibration screening is performed.
Swept Sine Vibration — When selected, swept sine (sequential) vibration screening is performed.
Fixed Sine Vibration — When selected, fixed sine vibration screening is performed.
Vibrational Force
The amount of force that the vibration exerts on the assembly being tested. The default is 0. The range is from 0 to 20.
Axis Sensitivity Factor
A percentage value that indicates the sensitivity of the assembly being tested to the vibrational effect. The default is 0. The range is 0 to 100.
Test Duration (minutes)
The number of minutes that the screening lasts. The default is 0. The range is from 0 to 1000.
Percent Failures from Vibration
The percentage of failures that occur due to vibration. The default is 20. The range is from 0 to 100. The sum of the value in this field and the value in Percent Failures from Temperature Cycling on the Infant Mortality - Temperature pane must always be equal to 100. If you change the value in this field, the value in Percent Failures from Temperature Cycling automatically changes.
Detection Efficiency
The options under this heading provide additional information about the detection efficiency of the vibration screening.
Testing Type
Efficiency %
The type of testing and its screening efficiency percentage. Choices are:
Functional — When selected (default), functional testing is performed. The default for Efficiency % is 65. The range is from 50 to 80.
Functional and Parametric — When selected, functional and parametric testing is performed. The default for Efficiency % is 90. The range is from 80 to 100.
Although the testing type does not affect the calculation, the efficiency percentage does affect it.
Conditions
Efficiency %
The conditions under which testing is performed and the percentage of efficiency for these conditions. Choices are:
Testing at Ambient — When selected (default), testing is performed at the ambient temperature. The default for Efficiency % is 40. The range is from 20 to 60.
Testing Concurrent with Stress — When selected, the screening is performed under stress. The default for Efficiency % is 100 and cannot be changed.
Although the condition does not affect the calculation, the efficiency percentage does affect it.
Isolation %
The percentage that the factors attributed to detection efficiency can be isolated from the rest of the screening process. The default is 80. The range is from 80 to 100.
