Prediction Support Files
You use Prediction support files to customize reliability predictions. The following table describes the topics that are included in this section. You can also use Assembly Library files with the Prediction module. For more information, see Assembly Library Files.
Prediction Support File
Description
How-To Topics
Mission Profile
Stores the total mission time (total operating time of the system) and information about the various mission phases, including the environment, temperature, and percentage of mission phase. The Mission Profile file can also be used by the FMEA module. For more information, see Mission Profile Files.
Prediction Bayesian
Stores test and field data at the assembly level so that Bayesian analysis can be used to adjust the base failure rate of the system or an assembly. The 217Plus or PRISM model must be licensed for this support file type to be available. When one or both of these models is licensed, you can use Prediction Bayesian files with all but a FIDES, IEC TR 62380, or RDF 2000 model. For more information, see Prediction Bayesian Files.
Prediction Correlation Library
Stores in-house part numbers and mappings to part numbers in Windchill Risk and Reliability libraries and user libraries so that specific part data for parts can be easily retrieved, even when special in-house numbering systems are in use. For more information, see Prediction Correlation Library Files.
Prediction Cycling Profile
Stores the operational phases that the IEC TR 62380 or RDF 2000 must have to calculate failure rates. A Prediction Cycling Profile file is needed only when IEC TR 62380 or RDF 2000 is selected as the calculation model for the top-level assembly in the System Tree Items table. For more information, see Prediction Cycling Profile Files.
Prediction Defaults
Stores the default part parameter values to use for a part type when these parameters are either blank or have # signs displayed in the Prediction Data pane. If you do not specify custom defaults in the Project’s Prediction Defaults file, the built-in defaults are used. For more information, see Prediction Defaults Files.
Prediction Derating
Stores minimum and maximum derating criteria (stress values) for a part type so that problematic components can easily be identified. Parts operating over derating limits are shown in red in the System Tree Items table and Parts Table by default. Unless custom derating values are defined in the Project’s Prediction Derating file, built-in derating values are used. For more information, see Prediction Derating Files.
*
Prediction FIDES support files are used only with FIDES models. For these files to be available, you must have the FIDES model licensed.
Prediction FIDES Application Factor
Stores the questions and answers for the Pi Application factor, which is used in prediction calculations by a FIDES model. For more information, see Prediction FIDES Application Factor Files.
Prediction FIDES Lead Free Factor
Stores the questions and answers for the Pi Lead Free factor, which is used in prediction calculations by only a FIDES 2009 model. For more information, see Prediction FIDES Lead Free Factor Files.
Prediction FIDES Mission Profile
Stores the mission profile data that a FIDES model uses in predictions calculations. For more information, see Prediction FIDES Mission Profile Files.
Prediction FIDES Process Grade
Stores the process grades that a FIDES model uses to adjust the base failure rate calculated for an assembly. For more information, see Prediction FIDES Process Grade Files.
Prediction FIDES Ruggedized Factor
Stores the questions and answers for the Pi Ruggedized factor, which is used in prediction calculations by a FIDES model. For more information, see Prediction FIDES Ruggedized Factor Files.
Prediction Parts Library
Stores standard part and specific part data. Part data from Prediction Parts Library files is retrieved when a part with a matching part number is inserted in the Parts Table. You can also search Prediction Parts Library files to locate parts and manually insert them in the Parts Table. For more information, see Prediction Parts Library Files.
Prediction Process Grade
Stores scoring profile values that are translated into quantitative Pi factor multipliers that impact the predicted failure rate of the assembly or system. Process Grade files allow you to account for the process-related variability around the assembly or system inherent (or seed) failure rate. When the PRISM model is licensed, Process Grade files are available for use with any model but a FIDES, IEC TR 62380, or RDF 2000 model. For more information, see Prediction Process Grade Files.
Prediction Values Library
Stores custom environmental and part quality values for use in your predictions. For more information, see Prediction Values Library Files.
You can create a Report Design file to report on the data in any of the Prediction support files described in the previous table. For more information, see Creating a Report Design File Using the Report Designer.
In addition to using any of the many Prediction support files described in the table, if you have a 217Plus or PRISM license, you can perform predecessor analysis with all but the FIDES, IEC TR 62380, and RDF 2000 models. To perform predecessor analysis, in the Predecessor pane, you enable a System file from a previous design in the System file for a new design to use the failure data collected for the existing design to adjust the failure rate predicted for the new design. For more information, see Predecessor Pane.
