Temperatures Pane
The Temperatures pane displays information about common temperature variations experienced across all system phases for the profile selected in the Cycling Profiles pane. Records cannot be inserted in the Temperatures table until a profile is selected in the Cycling Profiles pane and Use common temperature variations is selected in that pane or here in this pane.
When Use common temperature variations is selected for a profile, you can insert records in the Temperatures table and enter system temperature and operating percentage information. Based on this information, a weighted average is calculated and used as the system temperature for all operating phases. The following table describes the options in the Temperatures pane.
Option
Description
Use common temperature variations
When selected (default), the system temperatures and operating percentages entered in the table are used to find a weighted average temperature, which is then used as the system temperature for the profile. If you clear this checkbox, Use common temperature variations is cleared in the Cycling Profiles pane. Because the profile no longer uses common temperature variations to find an average system temperature, the records in the Phases pane are used.
Average temperature
The average system temperature for the records in this pane. This field is display-only.
Temperatures table
The following options appear in the Temperatures table.
System Temperature
The temperature of the system.
Percent On
The percentage of time the system operates at this temperature per year.
The command in the last table row in the Temperatures pane depends on whether a profile is selected in the Cycling Profiles pane and on whether Use common temperature variations is selected in either the Cycling Profiles pane or Temperatures pane.
If a profile is not selected, the following message appears in the last table row: < Insert a Cycling Profile and check the ‘Use common temperature variations’ checkbox to enable the Temperatures table >. You cannot insert a record in the Temperatures table until both of these situations exist.
If both of these situations exist, the < Click here to insert a new record > command is shown in the last table row. Clicking it inserts a record in the Temperatures table.
