Multiple Match Handling
Options for specifying how multiple part number matches are handled appear under Part Library Search in the Options window. For more information, see Parts Library Search User Options.
By default, Select First Part Found is selected for both Multiple correlated part match handling and Multiple part match handling. In this case, when a part number search results in multiple matches, the part data for the first match is retrieved and shown in part-related panes in the System file.
Although no duplicate part numbers exist in the supplied Windchill Risk and Reliability libraries, duplicate part numbers might exist in the Prediction Parts Library files that you create. Also, if you create Prediction Correlation Library files, you might map multiple entries for the same in-house part number to different parts in these libraries.
When Select First Part Found is selected for Multiple part match handling and Multiple correlated part match handling, you should confirm that neither of the above conditions exist in your Prediction Parts Library and Correlation Library files because the part data for the first match found is retrieved and shown.
If these conditions do exist, when multiple part number matches are found, you want the Library Browse window to open and display all matches so that you can choose which part to insert. To make this happen, for both Multiple part match handling and Multiple correlated part match handling, select Display All Matching Part Numbers. When you enter a part number in the Parts Table and multiple part number matches are found, the Multiple Part Numbers Matched tooltip is momentarily shown:
Select the part you want to insert and click ‘Update Current Part to Selected’
The Library Browse window then opens so that you can select the part to insert.
If the search algorithm is in use, the Library Browse window lists exact matches first. If the part for which to retrieve data is listed in the Library Browse window, you can insert it. For more information, see Library Browse Window.
