FIDES Lead Free Scoring
In the top left corner of the Prediction FIDES Lead Free Factor file, two fields supply the production information that a FIDES 2009 model requires for calculating the Pi lead free factor.
For Production quantity, you select from the following choices from the standard, FIDES Guide 2009, Reliability Methodology for Electronic Systems, to indicate how many units are manufactured weekly using a lead free process. Choices are:
Small Series: < 100,000 per week
Medium Series: < 500,000 per week
Large Series: < 2,000,000 per week
Very Large Series: >= 2,000,000 per week
For Years of production, you specify the number of complete years of effective production with a lead free process. The default is 0.
For Years of production, you specify the number of complete years of effective production with a lead free process. The default is 0.
Display-only scoring results are shown in the top right corner of the FIDES Lead Free Factor file. The following table describes these results. For information about how they are calculated, see the standard.
Option
Description
Lead free grade
This value is calculated using the following equation:
Lead free grade = ΣWeight of satisfied criteria / ΣWeight of applicable criteria
Pi lead free
The factor to use for lead free calculations for this assembly.
Weight of satisfied
The total number of points that are assigned to questions where Yes has been selected for Answer.
Weight of applicable
The total number of points assigned to questions where either Yes or No has been selected for Answer.
*
Question 3 is a special case because it is a subset of Question 2. If you select Yes for Question 2, your answer for Question 3 has no impact on the result for either Weight of satisfied or Weight of applicable. If you select No for Question 2, then the value for Weight of satisfied remains the same (because it is already included as part of Question 2), but the value for Weight of applicable increases appropriately. When Question 2 is left blank, Question 3 is scored just like any other question.
