Inserting New Top Gates (Fault Trees)
A System file can include multiple fault trees, with each tree having its own top gate. In the FTA Table, a green gate icon is shown to the left of all rows containing top gates. To go to a particular tree, you click the row containing its top gate.

To insert a tree in a System file, no object can be selected in the FTA Diagram pane.
1. Click in an empty area of the diagram to ensure that no object is selected.
2. To insert a tree, do one of the following:
Press Insert.
Select Insert > New Top Gate.
Right-click and select New Top Gate. This command is unavailable if an object is selected in the diagram.
In the FTA Diagram pane, a new diagram with only an OR gate is created. In the last row of the FTA Table, a record is inserted for this top gate. If necessary, you can change the OR gate to some other gate type. For more information, see Changing Gate or Event Types. To construct the tree, you then insert additional events and gate. For more information, see Inserting Gates and Events.

To delete a tree from the System file, you delete the record for its top gate from the FTA Table. Deleting a top gate deletes all of its child records. For more information, see Deleting a Table Row.
