General Page
The General page displays general information and provides for specifying calculation data for an event. You must specify data for any event that is not linked to another item in the System file.
When the event is not linked to another item, User defined is selected under Parameter definition. You use the properties under Input type to provide calculation data for the event. Or, if an FTA Event Library file exists in the Project, you select Event parameter and then select an event in the field that becomes available. For more information, see FTA Event Library Files
When the event is linked to another item in the System file, Linked to assembly, part, FMEA or FTA data is selected under Parameter definition. No other properties are available because the calculation data assigned to this linked item is used for the event. For more information, see Data Links
The following table describes the properties on the General Page of the Column Properties window.
Property
Description
Description
The description of the event tree column.
Code
The unique code assigned to the event. For more information, see Codes. This field is unavailable for the initiating event, which is the event that begins all possible event sequences in the event tree. All other events are assigned a code so that results for event sequences (branches) can be shown in the Event Tree Results table.
Parameter definition
Indicates the source of the calculation data for the column. Choices are:
User defined. When selected, the properties under Input type become available so that you can specify the data to use for calculations.
Event parameter. When selected, an event parameter can be selected in the field to the right. This property is unavailable if no FTA Event Library files are enabled.
Linked to assembly, Part, FMEA, or FTA data. When selected, the column is linked to another item in the System file. In this case, all other properties are unavailable because calculation data for the column is obtained from the linked item.
Input type
The type of calculation data available for the event. This property is available only if User defined is selected as the parameter definition. Choices available are the same as the model selections available for a user defined event in a time dependent tree. For descriptions, see Time Dependent Event Properties.
If you use the navigation control at the top of the Properties window to view the properties for a different event, the name of the window changes to the event identifier. For more information, see Changing the Active Object in the Properties Window.
