Starting and Using the Form Designer
The Form Designer gives you total control over the creation of a Form Design file. You can use the Form Designer to insert and configure controls in either a new or existing Form Design file. Because the Form Designer provides so many different capabilities, this how-to topic explains only how to start the Form Designer. To learn how to use the Form Designer, see the subsequent how-to topics for Form Design files.
1. Open or create the Form Design file. Form Design files are opened and created in the same way as any other file. However, during file creation, the Create Form - Select Table Type window opens so that you can select the table type for the new form.
If Simplify file inputs is selected (default) under General in the Project properties, a window opens, indicating that the Project’s Form Set file has changed. For more information, see General Project Properties.
In this window, click Yes to update the System file immediately or No to postpone this update until the next time you open the file.
2. If the Form Design Wizard starts when the file opens, click Cancel to close it. You can then use the Form Designer to manually insert and configure controls. You can also use the Data Fields Toolbar to insert data fields. For more information, see Data Fields Toolbar.
3. See the subsequent how-to topics for Form Design files to learn how to use the Form Designer.
4. When finished, close the file.
