Saving and/or Applying a Filter from the Filter Wizard
Once all filter criteria have been specified, the Filter Wizard, when accessed from the System file, displays the Save Filter page. I want to save my filter for later use indicates whether you want to save the filter so that it can be applied again at some later date. This checkbox is cleared by default.
1. If you do not want to save the filter, click Next. The Wizard Complete page appears, which means you can go to step 2.
If you do want to save the filter, do the following:
a. Select I want to save my filter for later use. Additional options become available.
b. For Filter name, enter the name for the filter.
c. Indicate where to save the filter.
When Save filter to My Filter File is selected (default) the filter is saved to your My Filter file.
When Save filter to the Filter File in the Project is selected, the filter is saved to the Project Filter filter file. In the Enterprise Edition, you must have the necessary permissions to read and write to the Project Filter file.
d. Click Next. The Wizard Complete page appears.
2. On the Wizard Complete page, click Finish.
Prior to saving the filter to your My Filter file, a check is performed to see if this file exists. If so, the filter is saved to it and then applied. If this file does not exist, the Create Support File window opens. For more information, see Create Support File Window.
If the filter is a parameterized query, the Select Filter window opens so that you could supply the parameter values use to apply the filter. For more information, see Supplying Parameter Values at Run Time.
If records match the criteria for the applied filter, they are shown in the table. If no records match the criteria for the applied filter, the No Matches window opens by default. For more information, see Responding to the No Matches Window.
When any standard Project is open, you can quickly open your My Filter file by clicking My Filter File in the Project Navigator.
