International Character Support
Windchill Risk and Reliability supports international character sets. It uses Unicode-compliant data structures and algorithms for the input, storage, retrieval, and display of text in data fields. Additionally, Windchill Risk and Reliability supports international characters in user names, passwords, file names, and directory paths.
When the Enterprise Edition is used with a Microsoft SQL Server database, international character sets are automatically supported. There is no need for any additional configuration or setup.
When the Enterprise Edition is used with an Oracle database, Unicode support must be configured at the database level. The Enterprise Edition installation will support either a non-Unicode-enabled or Unicode-enabled Oracle database appropriately. However, without proper Oracle database setup, the Enterprise Edition will not appear to support international character sets. To determine if your Oracle database is Unicode-enabled, contact your Oracle administrator. For more information, consult the Oracle Technology website.
