Architecture
The Windchill Risk and Reliability Enterprise Edition is a scalable .NET-based solution that supports both a desktop client and a zero-footprint, browser-based web client. Its architecture is pictured in the following figure.
General server and client hardware sizing recommendations for Windchill Risk and Reliability applications follow. Because network infrastructure and other variables have a direct effect on performance, application testing is strongly advised.
• For small-sized and medium-sized implementations, follow the recommendations in this document. Also keep in mind that a margin of error in the final calculation is normal, particularly concerning peak loads.
• For larger, globally distributed, more complex deployments, loads are more difficult to predict. Thus, PTC recommends engaging PTC Global Services to help with designing the implementation architecture and specifying the hardware requirements.
