Adding a New Child Part
To add a new child part to a structure:
1. In the Structure pane or Uses tab, select the part in the structure directly above where you want to insert the new part.
2. Select Insert New from the toolbar or right-click actions menu.
The New Part window opens.
3. In the window, enter the required information for the part you want to insert.
*
The list of available part types is based upon relationship constraints previously defined by your Windchill system administrator.
You may want to create an associated CAD document so that the part can be opened later for editing in your CAD tool. If so, be sure to enable the option Create CAD Document.
For a definition of common part attributes, see Part Attributes.
4. Select OK.
The new part is inserted into the structure directly below the part initially selected.
5. If desired, verify the change in the structure using the Visualization tab.
*
By default, newly added parts are assumed to not participate in the build process. If you wish to add this new part to the corresponding CAD document structure, then you must perform the Set for Build action.
