Configuration Management Access Permissions
You can view ACLs for a project, subproject, or member through the Windchill RV&S client. You can view the ACLs for a project, subproject, or member in an expanded tree view, which helps you understand the ACL inheritance.
The ACL tree displays the following icons for the ACL status:
— Indicates that projects, subprojects, or members have explicitly defined ACLs.
— Indicates that projects or subprojects do not have ACLs. The node containing this icon in the ACL tree indicates that the corresponding project or subproject has children nodes in the ACL tree.
— Indicates that projects, subprojects, or members do not have ACLs. The node containing this icon in the ACL tree indicates that the corresponding project, subproject, or member is the last node in the ACL tree.
— Indicates a break inheritance in the ACL tree.
For more information on break inheritance, see Changing ACL Inheritance.
You can also create or delete ACLs for the projects, subprojects, or members depending upon the permissions granted by your administrator.
For more information on permissions, see Permissions and Controlling Read/Update Access.
Key Considerations
For shared subprojects, Windchill RV&S recognizes the ACLs based on the canonical path of the subproject.
The ACL tree displays the ACL nodes, starting from the selected project, subproject, or member. It displays the ACL nodes upwards to the global root or to the ACL node where there is a break inheritance.
You can view the defined permissions for the projects, subprojects, or members in the View Permissions window. Windchill RV&S displays the or icon for a project, subproject, or member in the ACL tree for the following cases:
The administrator has not defined permissions on the project, subproject, or member.
You do not have permissions to view the ACLs for the project, subproject, or member.
