Advanced Search
Use the Windchill advanced search capability to perform detailed search queries. Using more specific criteria reduces search time and limits the number of database objects that are returned. Advanced search also allows frequently used searches to be saved, shared with others, altered, and reused.
To access the advanced search, open the Navigator and select the Search tab. Click Advanced Search at the top of the tab. You can also select Advanced Search from the global search drop-down menu:
The advanced search field sets are joined by a combination of AND and OR operators. For more information, see Search Operators.
Set by an administrator
Search object attribute values. If Windchill index searching is installed and enabled, you can also search object primary content (for example, the content of an uploaded file).
Whether the Keyword field is required depends on the enableEmptySearch property.
Disabled—You must provide either a keyword value or an attribute field value under Criteria.
Enabled—You are not required to provide a keyword. However, if you do not provide a keyword, then you must limit your search in one of the following ways:
Select only one object type.
Select only one context or one folder.
Provide a value for at least one attribute field under Criteria.
Check with an administrator to verify whether this property is enabled.
Select one, multiple, or all object types to include.
Select one, multiple, or all locations in which to search.
You can search within an individual folder, but you cannot search in more than one individual folder at a time. You also cannot select a combination of contexts and individual folders. For more information, see Searching Within Folders.
This field appears when the following conditions are met:
Windchill PartsLink is installed

The Enable Related Object Search preference is set to Yes.
Only one object type is selected.
The selected object type has an associated report template that is available for advanced searches.
For more information on required values, see Searching With Minimum Criteria.
All searches are case-insensitive. For example, if you enter “Design” into the Name field, your search results include objects that contain the following in their names:
Any mixed-case variation (for example, DeSigN )
Whenever possible, include as many specific criteria as you can. Narrow searches take less time to perform. This is particularly important for indexed searching. While the search index provides much more flexibility, searches take longer to complete. Including additional criteria helps.
Click the cancel icon to cancel a search that is taking too long to complete. This icon appears as the Search Results table is loading.
