Installing Windchill Gateway for FORAN Component on an Existing Windchill PDMLink System

Prerequisite: Message Oriented Middleware is installed and configured.

Installation of Windchill Gateway for FORAN on a Windchill system consists of two components: Windchill Gateway for FORAN and the Windchill Shipbuilding Template. Refer to the bundled PTC Solution Installer (PSI) on the PTC Solution Installer CD for the correct installation sequence.

The following four figures show the installation sequence for the Windchill Gateway for FORAN and the Windchill Shipbuilding Template. The Windchill Gateway for FORAN installation begins at the Select Product step when Windchill PDMLink is installed.

On the Select the optional products to install screen, the following selections must be checked to enable Windchill Gateway for FORAN integration:

• Windchill Gateway for FORAN

• Windchill PartsLink Integration Client

• Windchill Shipbuilding Template

• Creo View

• Thumbnail Generator and Viewable Compression Utilities

When you install the gateway, by default you are configuring the adapters to Sun's Message Oriented Middleware. If you have other Message Oriented Middleware, the properties of the adapters will not be updated. Consult FORAN Gateway Configuration For TIBCO EMS if you have a TIBCO EMS; consult your system administrator if your Message Oriented Middleware is not Sun's.

As an administrator of Windchill, navigate to Site > Utilities > Info*Engine Administration. The page will not have any JMS service entry with Name SunMQ. After installation, the Windchill adapter page will look like this:

The property com.ptc.distproc.credential sets the gateway administrator password in the <Windchill>/DistProc/distproc.properties file. This is the password of the principal who allows the adapters to interact with the gateway controller in Windchill. If encryption is enabled, then the JMS Base URI, WES Base URI and Queue Base URI fields need to be encrypted. See “Log On Credentials” in the Windchill Help Center for more details.
