Procedure Publishing and Model Targets
*
Processing of CAD files and generating Model Targets may take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the size and complexity of the model.
Model Targets recognize and track particular objects in the real world based on the shape of the object.
There are two types of Model Targets that can be used in a procedure—Standard and Advanced. Vuforia Vantage automatically determines which model target to use.
Publishing Procedures with 3D Models
Publishing procedures that include a 3D model may take some time to complete. There are several phases to the publishing process when a 3D model is included in a procedure:
Phase
Description
Preparing to publish...
Once you click PUBLISH, Vuforia Editor prepares to publish your procedure with the 3D model.
Simplifying CAD model...
The simplification service simplifies your 3D model.
Generating Standard Target...
Once your model has been simplified, Vuforia Editor begins generating a Standard Model Target.
Generating new Advanced Model Target...
Once the Standard Model Target is available, generation of the Advanced Model Target begins. This may take a while.
Using Advanced Model Target
The Advanced Model Target generation is complete and your procedure is now using this Model Target instead of the Standard Model Target.
*
The Advanced Model Target is independent of republishing. After the Advanced Model Target becomes available, only the Standard Model Target will be generated when republishing.
Once you publish a procedure that includes a 3D model with a 3D marker, a Standard Model Target is created. Then, the generation and training of the Advanced Model Target begins. The training of the Advanced Model Target can take some time depending on the size of the model. Once the training has completed, the procedure will then use the Advanced Model Target.
Standard and Advanced Model Targets
Target Type
Description
Standard Model Target
Supports recognition and tracking from a limited recognition range, and requires the user to manually align the view with the physical object. Once the procedure is published, the Standard Model Target is created. If your procedure is using the Standard Model Target, the procedure will show ALIGN MODEL TO VIEW LIVE GUIDES.
Advanced Model Target
Supports recognition and tracking of an object from a recognition range up to 360 degrees, without requiring the user to manually align the view with the orientation of the physical object. Once the procedure is published and the Standard Model Target is generated, the Advanced Model Target begins training. If your procedure is using the Advanced Model Target, the procedure will show POINT CAMERA AT OBJECT TO VIEW LIVE GUIDES.
