Physical Object Recommendations
Vuforia Expert Capture uses Vuforia Engine model tracking. Therefore, the following guidelines should be followed to ensure successful tracking:
*
If the CAD object you are using is larger than the size of an SUV, we recommend using custom viewing positions in your procedure steps
Physical objects must have the exact same shape and size as the 3D CAD model.
Physical objects must:
Be geometrically rigid (that is, they cannot be malleable)
Present stable surface features
Physical objects must not change state during the procedure, so make sure that the product state matches whatever state you want to start your procedure at exactly. For example, parts cannot be moved, removed, or added during the procedure.
Some variation in surface appearance is required to distinguish the object (for example, plain surfaces such as all white or all black may not work well).
Geometric complexity is key to distinguish an object from other shapes in the environment (simple shapes such as cubes, spheres, etc. may be easily confused with other objects in the area).
*
We recommend avoiding the use of symmetric objects, as the Model Tracker won’t be able to differentiate its sides.
Rely on the physical object as much as possible, and augment what is already present.
