Packages
A package is a set of instructions sent to devices for execution. Packages allow:
Service technicians to upload log files
Project developers to download revised project files or upgrades to devices
Administrators to run scripts to perform maintenance on remote assets
You can use Software Content Management to create, search for, test, and publish packages.
Package Types
Using Software Content Management, you can create and publish the following types of packages:
File-Based Packages—deliver instructions through a script file
Instruction-Based Packages—deliver instructions using the package metadata
Published vs. Unpublished Packages
When a package is created, it is unpublished. You can edit and delete unpublished packages, but they cannot be used for a production deployment.
Published packages are ready for production deployment, but cannot be edited or republished. You can delete published packages that do not have deployments.
Both published and unpublished packages can be used in test deployments.
