Installing a Stand Alone License Server
PTC supports Flexera Software’s FlexNet Publisher as its licensing provider. PTC currently supports the FlexNet Publisher License Server using both the license manager Imgrd and Imadmin.
License Server Downloads
Download the Servigistics InService Windows license manager from: http://download.ptc.com/download2/products/FLEXnet/InService_License_Server_Windows.zip
Download the Servigistics InService Linux license manager from http://download.ptc.com/download2/products/FLEXnet/InService_License_Server_Linux.zip
Provide License Server Information to PTC
You need to provide the license server host ID to the PTC License group.
1. Retrieve the license server host ID (mac address).
On Windows: execute the “ipconfig /all” command to get the mac address (which will be used as host ID).
On Linux: execute the "hostid"  command or the “lmutil lmhostid” lm command to get the host ID.
2. Contact PTC’s license group. You can do this through the PTC Servigistics section on the License Management page. From there you can enter a case on the Customer Care Case Logger page.
You must provide your license server “host ID” that you retrieved. The License Group will then process your request and generate a license file according to the customer subscription package you have purchased. This includes the number of users and the expiration date.
License Server Configuration
For Windows use the lmtools.exe command to configure the server once the package has been unzipped.
Copy the license.txt file you received in the ptc_e folder and rename it ptc_e.licenses.
Edit the ptc_e.licenses file and change the path of the ptc_e.exe daemon (line 2) to match path of where the license server has been extracted.
DAEMON ptc_e "C:\Program Files\PTC\FLEXnet Admin License Server\ptc_e\ptc_e.exe"
Edit the paths in bin/installptce.bat to match path of where the extracted files were placed as follows:
Path of installs.exe and lmgrd.exe
Path to the ptc_e licenses.
Path to the log file PTC_E.log.
Optionally, you can edit the name of the service.
For Linux, locate the rc.PTCEswlm file and modify it based on where the package is unzipped to.
License Server Installation
Setup a license server on your local environment.
Installation instructions can be downloaded from here: PTC FlexNet License Server Manual Installation Technique. Be sure to use the newer ptc_e daemon version.
Download the relevant Windows or Linux daemons from these locations:
Windows daemon is available at http://download.ptc.com/download2/products/FLEXnet/InService_License_Server_Windows.zip
RHEL platform daemon is available at http://download.ptc.com/download2/products/FLEXnet/InService_License_Server_Linux.zip
For Windows:
1. Run bin/installptce.bat as admin.
2. Verify that the Windows service PTC_E License Manager is started. If not start it.
*
If the service fails to start, see Troubleshooting for more information.
License Server Monitoring
Open bin\lmtools.exe to update the license and restart service or check licence information.
Servigistics InService License Server Configuration
During the installation of Servigistics InService you will need to provide the host name and port of the local license server provided earlier. See Specifying the License Server . This section includes instructions on how to configure the host name and port of the local license server if you opted out during the install process.
