Protect Urgent Work from Preventive Maintenance Volume
Schedule Optimization ensures that urgent Repair and Application work orders always receive scheduling priority over large volumes of Preventive Maintenance work. The system enforces capacity and priority controls to protect critical same-day work.
When a work order becomes past due or when a large volume of PM work enters the scheduling pool during the same optimization cycle as urgent work, the system applies configured rules to protect high-priority jobs.
An Operations Manager configures optimization and capacity rules to reserve defined same-day capacity for urgent Repair and Application work orders. The system:
Receives Preventive Maintenance and urgent Repair or Application work orders during the same optimization cycle.
Evaluates priority rules and available technician capacity.
Reserves protected same-day capacity for high-priority work.
Schedules urgent Repair and Application work orders first within the reserved capacity.
Schedules PM work only in the remaining non-reserved capacity.
Defers or reschedules excess PM work as needed.
Example
The following scenario describes the Monday morning scheduling cycle:
The system receives 120 Preventive Maintenance work orders.
The system receives 10 urgent Repair work orders.
Without configured priority and capacity controls, the system:
Schedules PM work based on availability.
Consumes most or all same-day technician capacity with PM work.
Delays urgent Repair work due to lack of available capacity.
With configured priority and capacity rules, the system:
Reserves defined same-day capacity for urgent work.
Schedules urgent Repair work first within the reserved capacity.
Schedules PM work only in remaining capacity.
Defers excess PM work around critical Repair jobs.
Result
Batch Optimization combined with capacity planning protects urgent Repair and Application work. The Schedule Optimization reserves dedicated capacity for high-priority work and prevents bulk PM work from consuming same-day operational capacity.
