What's Changed
External Client Apps for Service Board Sync
Salesforce is continuing the rollout of External Client Apps (ECAs) as the strategic replacement for customer-created Connected Apps. As part of this transition, Salesforce is disabling the creation of new Connected Apps by default and recommends using ECAs for new integrations. Salesforce will stop supporting the Connected Apps in Winter ’27 (October 2026).
*
Use this option when you need to automatically synchronize data between Service Board and Salesforce through secure communication without user interaction.
New customers: Use an External Client App. Do not use the out-of-the-box (OOTB) Connected App.
Existing customers: Migrate from the OOTB Connected App to an External Client App before Winter ’27 (October 2026) to ensure continued compatibility with Salesforce authentication requirements.
To avoid service disruptions and ensure continued compatibility with Salesforce, complete the migration to an External Client App as part of your upgrade planning.

Service Board SSO now supports authentication through an External Client App, enabling customers to adopt Salesforce's recommended authentication framework.
