Editing Product Structure Configuration
A Product Structure configuration defines how product relationships are displayed and managed. It determines which product records appear in a hierarchical view and which key details are visible for each level. You can use this configuration to control the presentation and behavior of the Product Structure Lightning component on objects, such as, Product, Account, Work Order, and so on ensuring that users see relevant and contextual information when exploring assemblies, subassemblies, and parts.
You can edit a Product Structure configuration to customize how data is filtered and displayed, aligning it with organizational requirements. You can modify existing settings such as selection criteria and display fields—to ensure that the Product Structure view remains accurate, informative, and user-friendly.

You cannot create, delete or clone the configuration.
This flexibility helps improve visibility across complex product hierarchies, supports service diagnostics, and enhances the technician’s ability to identify related components efficiently.
To edit a Product Structure configuration navigate to ServiceMax Setup > Product & Parts > Product Structure. The Product Structure configuration page is displayed.

Description
General
Fields marked with * are mandatory.
Name
Displays the name of the Product Structure configuration. This field is auto-populated with a default name. You can customize it to suit your requirements, making it easier to identify and manage configurations.
Description
Provides a brief explanation of the configuration’s purpose or usage context. Use this field to describe what the configuration is intended for, such as a specific product family or type of structure view.
Object Selection
Select criteria to display matching records on Product Structure
Defines the expressions that control which product records are retrieved and displayed. You can create an expression or use the listed expressions to match specific products or attributes. For example, a filter may be applied to show only active components or items belonging to a particular product family. This field is optional but helps ensure that only relevant data appears in the structure view. For more information, see Creating SFM Expressions.
Select Fields for Display
Specifies which fields are displayed for each node in the Product Structure hierarchy. You can select and move desired fields into the Fields to Display section, allowing users to see key information such as Product Code, Description, Quantity, at a glance.
By default, the following fields are added to the Fields to Display section:
Item No. (Product Structure)

This is a mandatory field and cannot be removed from the Fields to Display section.
Product Name (Product)
Product Code (Product)
Quantity (Product Structure)
You can customize the display by adding new fields or replacing existing ones from the Available Fields section to tailor the view according to business or operational needs.
