Location Tracking
Using the GPS-based Location Tracking feature provided in ServiceMax Go, dispatchers have a view into their technician's location history, recorded at specified intervals. Location tracking is supported when the app is in the foreground, background, or the device is locked. Location data is sent to the server and stored in the GPS Log table. In ServiceMax Go for Windows, the location coordinates are not recorded when the machine is in Sleep mode or Hibernate mode.
Mobile Configuration Profile Settings
Administrators can configure location tracking settings on the server on a per-profile basis. The details of these settings are described as follows.
Go to ServiceMax Setup Home > Mobile > Mobile Configuration > Other Settings tab. The following settings exist:
Enable Location Tracking - Enables location tracking for users on the relevant profile. End-users must still permit location tracking by making sure it is enabled for ServiceMax Go in their device settings.
Frequency of location tracking - Time interval frequency (in minutes) to poll the device location. Note that frequent polling for the location will increase device battery usage. We recommend taking battery usage into consideration when determining this setting.
The number of un-synced user GPS Locations to preserve in the device - Location coordinates will be stored on the app, up to the number specified on the server for this setting. Once that number has been reached, the app will send the data to the server. For more information, see the Storing of Location Coordinates.
Set the most recent location as Technician Location - Sets the Current Latitude and Current Longitude fields in the Technician record to the last recorded value.
