How Technical Attributes Template is chosen for the installed product
Tapping the Details tabs in the Installed Base App displays the Technical Attributes Template that matches the Product, Product Line, or Product Family for the selected installed product. If multiple matching templates are available, the one configured for the Product is chosen. Else, the template configured on Product Line takes priority over the one configured on Product Family. When no matching Technical Attributes Template is found for the selected installed product, an error message “No technical attributes associated with this installed product.” is displayed. You can contact your administrator to modify the configuration.
Viewing the Technical Attributes Template for an Installed Product does not associate that template to the Installed Product. The actual association of the template to an Installed Product happens only when the attributes values in the template are edited and saved. A history record is then created that can be used for tracking purpose.
Each time a Technical Attributes template is modified, the latest template that matches the Product, Product Line, or Product Family is always displayed when invoked in the Installed Base App or using the SFM Custom Action on the browser. The latest matching template will display all attributes, either modified or new attributes defined in that template.
When any attribute that was previously available in the template is deleted, then the values of those attributes will be available in the history table. The current view will always show the last saved attributes that match the latest template in the Details tab in the Installed Base App or in the Technical Attributes modal window on the browser.
If a template is modified by either deleting attributes or adding new attributes on the same date, then you will be able to only view the historical values of those attributes values that are saved and synced to the server.
Technical Attributes Templates will be downloaded in the Installed Base App only if Product object is defined in the Mobile Configuration Download Criteria.
