Work Plan and Service Products Assignment in PM Work Orders
In a Time-Based or Condition-Based PM Plan template, you can use the Schedule tab to add a schedule template and associate Work Plan. This automatically generates PM Work Orders with recommended parts, service tasks, and tools. For more information, see Adding a Schedule Template.
After you create a PM Plan using a PM Plan template that has associated Work Plans, the advanced PM engine runs and evaluates the PM Plans based on the defined schedule, and generates PM work orders. During generation, the engine automatically assigns the associated Work Plans and relevant service products to PM Work Orders. The generated PM Work Orders includes relevant service tasks, recommended parts, and tools defined in the assigned work plan.
Work Plan and Service Product assignment is supported only with the Advanced PM Engine. It does not happen with the Basic PM Engine, which only supports Task Templates. To enable advanced PM engine for Time-Based and Condition-Based PM plans, see Enabling and Configuring Advanced PM Engine Settings.
Admins can manually run the Advanced PM Engine from the Developer Console to quickly generate PM Work Orders and automatically assign the relevant work plans and service products. This allows admin level users to test the Advanced PM Engine without waiting for the PM Process’s schedule runtime. For more information, see Running the Advanced PM Engine Manually via Developer Console.
