Other Configuration Entities
Of the other ServiceMax configuration entities that can be managed from ServiceMax Setup home page configuration options, Service Flow Manager (SFM) and Mobile Configuration are the key entities, which influence user experience.
Service Flow Manager includes the following major configuration options:
SFM Transactions and Docs: Service flows to view, edit, and report on data, encompassing the following:
Conditional execution using qualifying criteria expressions.
Data mapping to default fields to constant values or field values from other records.
Data validation rules to ensure data integrity before committing.
Configurable UI defined using screen/report template designer.
*
Of the above, expressions, maps, and validation rules can be managed using stand-alone configuration screens, as these are used for configuring other features, including mobile configuration.
Inventory Processes: Configurable engine with associated UI for processing inventory transactions, which involve complex, inter-dependent stock data manipulation.
SFM Wizards: Sequential and conditional invocation of SFM transactions, Inventory processes, etc. with a wizard/menu interface.
SFM Search: Enhanced search of multiple objects based on keywords and predefined filters.
Mobile Configuration refers to a group of configuration options that control the following aspects related to mobile apps in the ServiceMax suite:
Data set to be downloaded to mobile apps.
Synchronization intervals for data and configuration.
Filters, Data Validation Rules, and SFM Mappings (applicable to InstalledBase App).
Real-time Notifications to be pushed to mobile client apps (applicable to iOS apps).
SFMs and Mobile Configuration are associated with ServiceMax group profiles. This enables large enterprise customers to configure ServiceMax for different business units as per their distinct requirements.
ServiceMax Rules and Processes affect processing of key ServiceMax transaction object records, based on configured criteria. Mostly, these involve automatic data processing. Some important examples are listed below:

Event Hover Rules, Event Subject Rules, Dispatch Console Field Updates, Dispatch Console Views, Dispatch Console Hovers – Determine data processed and displayed in DispatchConsole
PM PlanTemplates, Task Templates, and PM Process: Scheduled auto-creation of workorders and optionally, cases, along with related data
Data Lookup Rules – Conditional auto-population of data in any object record, based on matrix between objects
WarrantyTerms, Counter Rules, Auto-Entitlement Rules, andInvoice Processes – Populate and generate entitlement and billing data for cases, workorders, and service or maintenance contracts

Service Team, Technicians, Territories, andSkills to manage your Service Organization definition.
Booking Window Definitions and SLA Terms for use during dispatch.
Services, Activity Master, Service Pricebooks, and Service Plans to setup master data for advanced price calculation.
For advanced handling of reverse logistics, there is a separate group of configuration options in ServiceMax Setup home, covering the end-to-endflow from defining Depot and Stocking Locations through definition of predefined Routes and Stops, processes for Returning, Receiving, Delivering, Forwarding, Repairing, and Shipping back material, and Product Substitution Matrix, to Rules for sourcing parts based on the types of orders.
