The average time required to complete a work order (from the time it is created) is a measure of the length of all the business processes associated with work orders. When used in conjunction with the metric Mean Time To Repair, this also indicates the relative time spent in actual field service when compared to the total time spent per work order. This provides insights to businesses to evaluate the time spent in non-field service activities for work orders, making it possible to introduce process efficiencies.
Measuring this metric requires businesses to record the time at which a work order is considered completed.

The average time is measured as the difference between the time of creation and completion of work orders, and slicing and dicing the data on products and technicians.
