Business Context
Measuring attach rate requires maintaining up-to-date and consolidated information about the coverage of all your installed products by warranty/service contract. This enables organizations to identify the opportunities for increased contract coverage, and arrest any leakages.
Attach Rate is calculated as follows:
% of installed products under contract = (Number of installed products with contract coverage Total number of active installed products) x 100
This metric also includes measuring the relative percentage of installed products covered by warranty alone (possibly newer installations) and those covered by contract alone (older installations). These point to the areas of focus for up-sell and cross-sell when compared with the percentage of installed products without coverage and those with both coverages.
Additionally, these metrics indicate the pattern of distribution of new vs. old installed products. These can be sliced and diced by accounts, locations, and products, to get the big-picture view of the aging of installed products. Organizations can use this information to plan and offer enhanced preventive maintenance and product replacement schemes.
