Get oriented
Learn the PTC Orbit interface, locate records with Global Search, set up notifications, and review operational metrics on dashboards.
1. Learn the application layout. PTC Orbit organizes its interface into three areas: the header bar, the navigation pane, and the content area. The header bar persists across every page and provides access to Global Search, notifications, and your user profile. Click the menu icon in the upper-left corner to open the navigation pane, which lists every module available to you.
For a detailed walkthrough of each area, see Application Navigation.
2. Search for records using Global Search. The search box in the header bar retrieves results across assets, work orders, accounts, and products from any page. Enter a keyword or a natural-language query. Results appear in a card-based layout for multi-object searches, or as a list for a single object type. Save frequent searches for quick reuse and rename them for better organization.
For details, see Global Search.
3. Configure your App Notifications. The bell icon in the upper-right corner of the header bar displays alerts about updates to your records and activities. Click a notification to open the associated record in a new browser tab. Control which notifications you receive so you stay informed without unnecessary noise.
For details, see App Notifications.
4. Review your Dashboards. Dashboards present key performance metrics and asset data in visual layouts. Use them to monitor trends, track KPIs, and gain an at-a-glance understanding of operational status across your organization.
For details, see Dashboards.
You now have a working knowledge of the PTC Orbit interface and can navigate between modules, find records, manage alerts, and monitor performance from a single workspace.
