About Component Naming Conventions
The component engine accesses a library of parts. This library can be modified and extended. The library uses two different component naming conventions:
Components with fixed names—A name is automatically created by the component engine. For example, the name of a standard cut stamp includes the supplier's name and the shape, length and diameter code. The part name is SN1820-DA-HWS-20-71.prt. Each time the stamp is selected, the same Creo Parametric part is created.
Components with variable names—A name is created using the project prefix and a consecutive number. For example, a contoured cut stamp is named proj_cont_cut_stamp_1.prt, proj_cont_cut_stamp_2.prt, proj_cont_cut_stamp_3.prt. Each time the stamp is selected, another, consecutive Creo Parametric part is created.
