Service interface (UPDM - DoDAF aliases)
Creation
To create a Service Interface:
From an Architectural Description or Service Description: right-click the Architectural Description or Service Description, point to New, point to DoDAF, point to Service, and then click Service Interface.
From a Service Interface: right-click the Service Interface, point to New, point to DoDAF, and then click Service Interface.
From an SOV-1 Service Taxonomy, SOV-2 Service Interface Specification, SOV-3 Capability to Service Definition or SOV-5 Service Functionality: click the Service Interface button, and then click in free space on the diagram.
Appearance
On an SOV-2 Service Interface Specification, create Provided Interfaces and Required Interfaces for Service Interface elements.
Relationships
The following relationships are of importance to a Service Interface:
UML Generalization relationships define inheritance between Service Interface elements.
Expose relationships link a Service Interface to Capability elements that are exposed by the Service Interface.
Activity Performed by Performer relationships link a Service Interface to Activity (Service) elements that the Service Interface can perform.
Service Policy elements can be applied to a Service Interface.
Used as a type for Service Port (Requires), Service Port (Provides) and Service Role elements.
