Exchange element (UPDM - DoDAF aliases)
Creation
To create an Exchange Element:
• From an Architectural Description, Logical Data Model, Internal Data Model, or Service Description: right-click the element, point to New, point to DoDAF, point to All, and then click Exchange Element.
• From a DIV-2 Information Model or DIV-3 Physical Data Model, click the Exchange Element button, and then click in free space on the diagram.
Appearance
When shown on a DIV-2 Information Model or DIV-3 Physical Data Model, an Exchange Element appears as follows:
Relationships
The following relationships are of importance to an Exchange Element:
• Details relationships link the Exchange Element to related Entity Item elements.
• Used as a type for System Port elements.
• Used as a conveyed classifier for Control and Operational Exchange elements.
