Creation
From an Architectural Description, Logical Data Model, Physical Data Model, or Service Description: right the element, point to New, point to MODAF, point to All, and then click Exchange Element.
From an OV-7 Information Model or SV-11 Physical Schema, click the Exchange Element toolbar button, and then click in free space on the diagram.

When shown on an OV-7 Information Model or SV-11 Physical Schema, an Exchange Element appears as follows:
