Applying a stereotype to a model item
You can apply a Stereotype to an item in the following ways:
Through that item's context menu (useful for quickly applying a Stereotype to an item).
Through that item's Property Pages (useful for applying many Stereotypes to an item).
Through dragging items to a stereotype (useful for stereotyping many items with a single stereotype).
You can apply a Stereotype to all valid items (useful for automatically stereotyping existing and new valid items). See Applying a stereotype to all valid items.
To apply a Stereotype to an item through its context menu:
1. Right-click the item, and then point to Applied Stereotypes.
A checked command means that the Stereotype is applied to the item.
2. If the command for the Stereotype you want to apply is not checked, click the command.
Note that commands are listed for Stereotypes you can apply to the item. The commands associated with Stereotypes that are already applied to the item are prefixed with a check mark.
To apply Stereotypes to an item through its Property Pages:
1. Ensure that you have published the Stereotype's Tag Definitions. See Publishing a tag definition.
2. Open the model item's Property Pages, and then click the Items tab.
3. In the drop-down list box select Stereotypes or Stereotypes (Applied), and then click the Link button.
4. In the middle or right pane, select the check boxes associated with the Stereotypes you want to apply.
5. In the middle or right pane, clear the check boxes associated with the Stereotypes you want to remove.
6. Click OK.
*
If the required Stereotype is not listed, the item's type is not set up as a valid type for the Stereotype or the Stereotype is set up to be applied to all valid model item types. For more information, see Creating a stereotype to extend model item properties.
To stereotype many items through a drag-and-drop operation:
1. Select the items to which you want to apply the Stereotype.
*
You can select multiple items in the Contents pane.
2. Drag the selected items to the Stereotype.
*
If during a drag-and-drop operation you hover over a pane or pane tab, that pane will get the focus.
If during a drag-and-drop operation you hover over an expand symbol, the item will expand.
To apply a Stereotype to an item on a diagram
Drag the Stereotype to the diagram item.
Modeler applies the Stereotype to the item or the item instance. In addition, Modeler links the Stereotype to the diagram so that the Stereotype is shown on the diagram.
