Working with the 3D Cutting Tool
Making Hidden Parts Visible
It is often necessary to show hidden parts within an assembly, particularly in figures used in operating and maintenance instructions. For example, settings may need to be explained or maintenance parts may need to be made visible in an installation scenario.
To ensure that hidden parts are visible in an installation scenario, the surrounding parts need to be broken up.
The cutting tool is used in the 3D mode of Arbortext IsoDraw CADprocess to achieve this breaking up. The tool supports two selection variants that provide the same functionality.
The following exercise involves preparing a figure that is to be used alongside text in an instruction manual.
First, the unnecessary part of the drawing is cut away, then two hidden parts in an installed position are cut free from the surrounding parts.
The drawing of the support (support.idr) from the exercise in the Working with a Free View and Free Axis section is to be used for the exercise.
