Opening a 3D File in IGES Format
In order that all 3D information from the CAD system can be used, the files must be available in IGES, VRML or Wavefront formats.
This first exercise aims to guide you through the dialog boxes that appear during the structured import of a 3D file in these formats. The file used in this exercise is in IGES format. The dialog boxes for VRML and Wavefront formats are very similar.
Instructions detailed here regarding the options in the import dialog boxes have been selected in view of how this file is to be used in subsequent exercises. You can read more on the subject of structured imports in the section From a CAD System to 3D Mode. The section contains explanations of import options and when these are most useful.
