About Importing 3D AutoCAD Files
The model space in a 3D AutoCAD DXF file can contain both 2D and 3D elements. If you Open or Place a 3D DXF file in Arbortext IsoDraw, and then select the 3D model thumbnail preview under Select Layout in the DXF import dialog, all 2D and 3D elements in the model space are imported. If all imported elements are in the X-Y plane, a 2D projection is automatically applied on import. (See Import (Open).)
*
In AutoCAD, the model space is a limitless drawing area where you draw, view, and edit a 3D model. The Model thumbnail preview for a very large AutoCAD model space might appear blank. If you import a model with a blank preview and some entities are missing in the target ISO file, try importing the model again at a reduced scale.
