About Actual Dimension Notes
An actual dimension note is an ISO leader style for the dimensions of a selected object, such as a primary radius or a diameter with the text string Actual and the appropriate symbol (R or Ø) preceding the dimension value.
You can create an actual dimension note on an entity that has one or more primary radii or primary diameter dimensions. An error message appears when you select an entity that does not have any primary radius or primary diameter dimensions.
You can select the following types of entities to create the actual dimension note:
Standard silhouette edges and silhouette edges of non-analytic surfaces—When you select a silhouette edge, the primary radius or diameter dimension is retrieved from the feature whose surface created the silhouette edge. This dimension is used to create the actual dimension note.
Surfaces—When you select a surface, the primary radius or primary diameter dimension is retrieved from the feature to which the selected surface belongs. The actual dimension note is created using the retrieved dimension.
Datum Curves—When you select a datum curve, the primary radius or primary diameter dimension is retrieved from the selected curve. The actual dimension note is created using the retrieved dimension.
Edges—When you select an edge the actual dimension note is created in the instances:

* An edge is formed by two surfaces.
1. The feature or features are identified, whose surfaces create the edge.
2. If only one feature has created the surfaces that form the selected edge, and that feature has only one primary radius or diameter dimension, that dimension is retrieved for the actual dimension note.
3. If the surfaces of two features form the selected edge, and neither feature contains any primary radius or primary diameter dimensions, an error message is displayed.
4. If the surfaces of two features form the selected edge and only one of the features contains a primary radius or primary diameter dimension, this dimension value is retrieved and the actual dimension note is created using the retrieved dimension.
5. If the surfaces of two features form the selected edge and each feature contains a single primary radius or primary diameter dimension, you are prompted to select the feature for which you want to report the dimension and that feature's primary radius or primary diameter dimension is used in the actual dimension note.
6. If only one feature has created the surfaces that form the selected edge and that feature has multiple primary radius or diameter dimensions, a list appears of those dimensions. Select the dimension to be used for the creation of the actual dimension note.
7. If the surfaces of two features form the selected edge and one or both of the features contain multiple primary radius or diameter dimensions, a list appears of those dimensions. Select the dimension to be used for the creation of the actual dimension note.
Actual dimension notes can also report the primary radius or diameter dimension of a feature that is referenced by a parametric draft entity that is created by clicking Sketch > Use Edge. The feature or features are determined that create the edge referenced by the parametric draft entity and reports the appropriate dimension value in the actual dimension note.

Draft entities created by clicking Sketch > Offset Edge are not valid attachments for actual dimension notes.
If you have selected an edge of a merge cutout feature for the creation of an actual dimension note, an error message appears as the feature has no retrievable, primary diameter or radius dimension for the creation of an actual dimension note.
If the dimension is already shown in a drawing view for the selected entity, the shown dimension is erased when you create an actual dimension note for the same dimension.
In an English locale, a space exists between the text string Actual and the dimension value, while no such space exists between the text string and the dimension value in the Japanese locale.
