Exchange of Creo Elements/Direct Modeling Attributes with Model Manager Database - Concepts

Attribute Exchange

Creo Elements/Direct Modeling's database attribute exchange capability allows user defined attributes in the modeling environment to be mapped onto attributes of a corresponding ModelManager database. In general, such shared attributes may be modified either using Creo Elements/Direct Modeling or in the database environment. Any changes made in one environment will be automatically propagated to the other whenever the two are synchronized (on a ModelManager Load or Store operation).

Creo Elements/Direct Modeling includes a toolkit for specifying which attributes are to be exchanged. Commands for creating and modifying such attributes in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling can be defined very easily. Facilities for creating more sophisticated custom commands are also provided. Such commands are readily accessed through the Database Attribute Browser (although these commands may also be initiated through Creo Elements/Direct Modeling's normal customization mechanisms e.g. toolbars).

Note:

The toolkit for defining the commands which allow the creation and modification of database exchanged Creo Elements/Direct Modeling attributes is provided as a set of Integration Kit functions. Generally this toolkit will be used by administrators. A user's interface to the database exchanged attributes will be these commands which may be accessed from the Database Attribute Browser (or elsewhere from the Creo Elements/Direct Modeling user interface depending on how the system is configured).
