Modeling/Annotator Communication: Not to break Associativity

The Annotation module creates and maintains datastructures in Creo Elements/Direct Drafting that can be modified or destroyed easily using the direct interface described in these documents.

Since the consistency of these datastructures is very important for successfully updating views we recommend to read this document carefully and to follow in detail the given advices.

Modifications which will break the associativity

Some modifications on drawings created by Annotation must not be done with the commands of Creo Elements/Direct Drafting.

  1. Do not copy one drawing into another drawing.

  2. Do not insert manually one or more sheets into another drawing

  3. Do not insert manually one or more views into a sheet.

  4. Do not change or delete info texts beginning with "SD_" or "DOCU" or "AM_".

  5. Do not rename parts which were created in Annotation. They will be renamed automatically during the next update within Annotation.

  6. Do not modify view parts or parts below view parts with the commands in the MODIFY menu of Creo Elements/Direct Drafting.

  7. Do not modify view parts or parts below view parts with the commands in the PARTS menu of Creo Elements/Direct Drafting.

  8. Do not change the drawing scale of the TOP part or the part below the TOP.

  9. Do not change the owner of a part or subassembly (which belong to the drawing) in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling.

  10. Do not smash or gather any part created by Annotation (neither sheets nor view parts nor parts below view parts) in Creo Elements/Direct Drafting.

  11. Do not split or merge lines in Creo Elements/Direct Drafting which were derived from the Creo Elements/Direct Modeling 3D model. All changes will be set back during the next update within Annotation.

  12. Do not delete hatches in section views, they will be recreated during the next update within Annotation.

  13. Do not create detail parts in Creo Elements/Direct Drafting because they will be not associative to the 3D model (use the command Detail in Annotation to create those views).

  14. Do not insert elements on TOP part level because they won't be visible in Annotation (and may even get duplicated by using Import 2D).
