About Attributes
In Creo Illustrate, attributes associated with items in the sBOM help identify those items. Attributes are derived from source data and vary according to company procedures and design software. There are two types of attributes, properties and system properties. Properties come from the CAD system and provide information about the item, such as the Manufacturer, Product Serial Number, Design Revision Number etc. System properties, which are generated by Creo Illustrate, do not depend on source data.
Attributes can be exported to and imported from a CSV file. For more information, see About CSV Files.
Use the Attributes pane in the lower data panel to view the attributes for one item or a list of items, or view the details of an attribute in the Attribute Detail dialog box. You can also copy attribute data to applications such as Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word.
Attributes, such as object IDs, enable cross-product collaboration between Creo Illustrate, Creo Parametric, Arbortext IsoDraw, and native CAD tools. For illustrations with Schematic data, attributes are used to automatically match 3D and Schematic items. You can check matches by comparing the attributes of the matched parts, and you can create manual matches by searching for attributes in the 3D and Schematic views.
You can also use Schematic attributes in the following ways:
• Define profile rules based on attributes. For instance, use attributes to create one profile that shows wires in their physical colors, and another profile that shows the wires in their logical colors. For more information on defining profiles, see the Creo Illustrate Installation and Configuration Guide.
• Show attributes in another language, if the file contains localized text.
• Set attribute rules in a standard. For example, define certain attributes as hidden to avoid overloading the figure with irrelevant information.
