About Combining Parts in the sBOM
Use the Combine and Combine All Children commands in Structure Edit mode to combine parts in the sBOM. Combining enables you to illustrate pre-assembled and pre-fabricated assemblies which have parts that are not individually replaceable or servicable; for example, a welded assembly.
Combine—combines each selected child part in the sBOM with its parent part.
Combine All Children—combines each selected parent part in the sBOM with all of its child parts.
If you want to combine parts that are selected in the eBOM, click Home > Select sBOM to select them in the sBOM. You cannot combine parts in the eBOM.
If you combine all parts in an assembly, Creo Illustrate treats the assembly as a single part. If you combine some, but not all, parts in an assembly, Creo Illustrate treats the parent as partially “preassembled.”
After you combine a part, you cannot apply a callout to it. If you attempt to do so, the callout is applied to its parent assembly instead. However, you can assign a callout to any uncombined part in a preassembled parent that contains both combined and uncombined parts.
Parts must be selected in the sBOM before they can be combined. Selecting a combined part selects the parent it is combined with. As a result, combined parts translate and rotate as a single unit, explode as couplings, and assemble as groups.
