To Adjust the Numbering of Callouts
You can change the numbering of callouts in these ways:
Change the numbering scheme—Use numerals, letters, or another scheme.
Reset—Resets all item numbers.
Renumber callouts—Number the callouts in the order you select.
Instructions for each procedure follow.
To Edit the Numbering Scheme
A dynamic preview of the numbering scheme is displayed next to Sample in the dialog box. It updates each time you make a change.
1. Click Item List > Numbering > Edit Numbering Scheme. The Item Numbering dialog box opens.
2. In the box, select a scheme such as A,B,C. The sample series in the dialog box updates.
3. To add a prefix, suffix, or both to each callout, type any character in the boxes:
Prefix, such as 5A,5B,5C—Type in the first box.
Suffix, such as A1,B1,C1—Type in the second box.
4. To change the start of the series, type a number in the Start at box.
*
To change the start of a series of lettered callouts, type the corresponding number. For instance, to start at E, type 5.
5. To change the increment, select it next to Increment.
6. Click OK. The numbering of the callouts is updated.
To Reset Item Numbers
Click Item List > Numbering > Reset ITM Numbers. The list of ITM numbers returns to the default.
To Renumber Callouts
1. Click Item List > Numbering > Renumber Callouts. The Renumber Callouts dialog box opens.
2. In the Start At box, select the value to start the numbering.
3. Click OK. The dialog box closes and the pointer changes to a renumbering pointer.
4. Starting with the callout you want to start the series, click the balloon of each callout in succession. A gray preview appears for each callout. When all the callouts are renumbered, the changes are applied and the pointer becomes a standard pointer.
