Creating Custom Callouts
A custom annotation allows you to add user definitions, such as attribute names or values to callouts. These customized callouts are then added to the annotations list.
Callout annotations are defined in the Creo Illustrate standard.
You can customize annotation styles or create a custom annotation by editing the parameters in the standard.
Perform the following to create a custom callout:
1. Click File > Options. The Creo IllustrateOptions dialog box opens.
2. Next to Showing, click Illustration. The General-Main page opens.
3. Customize the annotation and illustration preferences, and then click Apply. The preferences are saved.
4. At the bottom of the dialog box, click Export as Standard. The Export as Standarddialog box opens.
5. Select a filename and location and then click Save. The standard is exported as a .zip file to the specified location.
6. Browse to the .zip file location and extract all files.
7. Using a text editor, edit the CalloutTemplate.xml file that is in the CalloutsLibrary folder.
8. Save the changes and zip up the file and folders. The changes are saved.
You can now add the modified standard to your standards list.
9. In the Creo Illustrate Options dialog box, next to Showing, select Global.
10. On the left, select Standard. The Standard-Main page is displayed.
11. Click Add. The Illustration Standard dialog box opens.
12. Type the name or browse to the modified standard (.zip) file, and then click Open. The standard is added to the list.
13. Click Apply. The standard is added to the Standard menu in the startup ribbon.
For more information about editing the XML file, see the CalloutTemplates XML File in the Installing Creo <version>: Illustrate appendix.
