About Working with the Attribute Manager
Working with the Attribute Manager for Schematic Figures
Use the Attribute Manager to inspect, edit, and create Schematic attributes, or to change the visibility of the attributes in the figure.
A figure can contain thousands of attributes. To more easily find certain attributes, you can filter, expand, or collapse attributes in the Attribute Manager. When you select an attribute from the list, its name appears in the Current selection box. The box also contains a breadcrumb path to the attribute, such as Pin>name_format>2. The breadcrumbs can help you navigate a very long list of attributes. For more information on adjusting the display in the Attribute Manager, see To Change the Display of Attributes in the Attribute Manager.
After you have sorted and filtered the display of the Attribute Manager to focus on the attributes you want to manage, you can work with attributes in these ways:
Observe and change attributes’ visibility in the figure. You can see the visibility state for an item or for a category of items, and you can toggle the visibility. For instructions, see To Change the Visibility of Attributes.
Find attributes with potential problems, such as a missing value:
A flag gnomon indicates items that may require further inspection.
Next to a category of attributes, there may be an indication of unused attributes. For example, next to Component, you may see 2 empty (of 18) to indicate 2 unused attributes of the 18 in that category.
Edit the value for existing attributes, or create or edit new attributes. In the Attribute Manager, the names and values of user-defined attributes have a blue, italic font. You can delete user-defined attributes only. For more information, see To Create, Edit, or Delete an Attribute.
*
To work more easily with the figure and the attributes simultaneously, you can leave the Attribute Manager dialog box open and switch between the application window and the Attribute Manager.
