To Instance Dual Ports in a Variable Group
There are three ways to place a second shape for a port in a variable group. For all three methods remember the following:
Both portshapes must be in the same cell of the variable group.
To inline the variable group, the portshapes must face in the opposite directions. Mirror or rotate the second port shape before placing.
To instance a Dual Port in a New Variable Group
1. Create a new variable group or open the shape of an existing one.
2. In the Catalog Explorer select a portshape to instance and click . The shape attaches to the pointer.
3. Click to place the first portshape.
4. Right-click and choose Multiport from the shortcut menu. The Existing Portshapes dialog box opens.
5. Select a portshape with only one instanced shape in the group shape.
6. Click OK. The portshape attaches to the pointer.
7. Mirror or rotate the shape and click to place it.
8. Create separation lines and close the variable group.
To Edit a Variable Group
1. Open the variable group shape.
2. Select a portshape with only one instanced shape in the group shape.
3. Right-click and choose Copy from the shortcut menu.
4. Right-click and choose Paste Shapes from the shortcut menu. The shape attaches to the pointer.
5. Mirror or rotate the portshape if necessary and click to place the second portshape.
To Reassign a Shape to Another Port
1. Open the variable group shape.
2. Select the portshape to modify and click Diagramming > Modify > Reassign Shape. The Reassign Shape dialog box opens.
3. When more than one port is available, select the port to use. Click OK.
