To Create a BID Harness and WID Cable
The fiber and cable are created in the Catalog Explorer. When you instance and route them in the respective diagrams, you create the corresponding relationship when you assign the name of the cable to be the same as the harness parameter of the fiber.
Creating the BID Harness
1. Create a new fiber artifact.
2. Add the parameter harness to the fiber artifact, but don't give it a value.
3. Create a fibershape for the artifact with the diagram type Block.
4. Add and format a label:
a. Click to the right of the Fibershapes area in the Catalog Explorer. The Fiber Properties dialog box opens.
b. Click the Label tab and then click <param>. The Parameter Selector dialog box opens.
c. In the Name column, select the harness parameter and click OK. The Parameter Selector dialog box closes and <harness> appears in the Format box of the Fiber Properties dialog box.
5. Instance and route the fiber.
6. Select the fiber, right-click and choose Properties from the shortcut menu.
7. Type a value for the harness parameter.
8. Click OK.
Creating the WID Cable
1. Create a new cable. The name of the cable must be different from the name of the harness.
2. Instance and route the cable.
3. Select the cable, right-click and choose Properties from the shortcut menu.
4. Change the Name format to Free Format.
5. Type the value of the harness parameter of the corresponding connecting fiber in the BID as the name of the cable.
6. Click OK.
