About the Geometry Tab
Use these tools to create and edit geometry.
Clipboard Group
Use the Clipboard commands to cut, copy, and paste design items.
Paste—Click the arrow to display paste options.
Paste Shapes—Pastes a new shape of the copied components. Conductors are filtered out.
Paste—Pastes a new instance of all copied design objects including conductors.
Cut—Cuts the selected design object and copies it to the clipboard.
Copy—Copies the selected design object.
Get Data Group
Use the Get Data commands to import sheets into the design.
Import—Displays the following options for importing sheets:
CGM—Opens the Import Environment for CGM dialog box.
DWG—Opens the Import Environment for DWG dialog box.
DXF—Opens the Import Environment for DXF dialog box.
MEDUSA—Opens the Import Environment for MEDUSA dialog box.
Line Group
Use the Line commands to create open and closed geometry. Click the arrow and select the required line type from the list.
Line—Creates a line of the chosen type. X Pos and Y Pos boxes appear at the bottom of the main window.
Circle—Creates a circle of the chosen type.
Box—Creates a box of the chosen type.
Polygon—Creates a polygon of the chosen type.
Slot—Creates a slot of the chosen type.
Ellipse—Creates an ellipse of the chosen type.
Hatching—Creates or modifies cross-hatching.
Create Cross-hatching—Creates cross-hatching.
Modify Cross-hatching—Allows modifying of cross-hatching
Edit Line
Use the Edit Line commands to modify geometry.
Arc—Creates arcs
Center Point Circular Arc—Creates an arc from a center point.
Circular Arc Through 3 Points—Creates a circular arc.
Extend—Extends line segments
Extend Line—Extends the length of the selected line.
Double Segment Length
—Doubles the length of the selected line.
Extend Segment by Factor—Extends the length of the selected line by the factor typed in the message area.
Extend Line to Probed Segment—Extends the selected line to a selected segment.
Halve Segment Length—Halves the length of the selected line.
Split/Join—Splits into or joins line segments.
Merge—Merges two line segments.
Split Segment About Selected Point—Splits a line at the selected point into two segments.
Point—Manipulates points.
Move Point—Moves the line point.
Reverse Points in Line—Reverses the points in a line.
Delete Point—Deletes the selected point.
Point Functions—Opens the Point Functions dialog box.
Line Navigation—Opens the Line Navigation dialog box.
Set Current Point as First Point—Makes the currently selected point into the first point
Rotate—Rotates selected geometry.
Rotate Segment by Specified Angle—Rotates the selected segment by an incremental or absolute angle specified.
Rotate Segment by 90 Degrees—Rotates the selected segment 90 degrees.
Rotate Segment by -90 Degrees—Rotates the selected segment -90 degrees.
Rotate Segment, Doubling Angle—Rotates the selected segment by double the specified incremental or absolute angle.
Rotate Segment, Halving Angle—Rotates the selected segment by half the specified incremental or absolute angle.
Fillet—Creates or removes a fillet.
Fillet
—Creates a fillet of the specified angle.
Tangent Fillet—Creates a fillet tangent to the specified angle.
Remove Fillet—Removes the selected fillet.
Chamfer
Create Chamfer—Creates a chamfer at the selected point in a line.
Remove Chamfer—Removes the chamfer.
Tangent—Creates and manipulates tangent segments.
Tangent to Surfaces—Opens the Tangent Arc dialog box to create an arc tangent to the selected surface.
Circular to Tangent—Converts a circular arc to a tangent point arc.
Modify Arc Weight—Modifies the weight of the selected tangent arc.
Reset Center of Arc—Repositions the center of a tangent arc.
Tangent Point Conic Arc—Creates a conic arc from a tangent point.
Tangent Point Parabolic Arc—Creates a parabolic arc from a tangent point.
Tangent Point Elliptical Arc—Creates an elliptical arc from a tangent point.
Divide
Divide—Divides a line into the number of segments specified.
Divide into Two—Divides a line into two segments. Specify the point to divide the line.
Fit Curve
Curve Through Line—Creates a curve through three points in a line.
Remove Curve—Removes a curve.
Orthogonalize Line—Creates an orthogonal line. Type an angle value in the box.
—Hides or shows the line segment.
Edit Line—Displays additional commands.
Properties—Opens the Closed Geometry Properties dialog box.
Query Segments—Opens the Query Segment Properties dialog box.
Construction Group
The Construction group includes commands to create construction lines.
Construction Line—Creates a construction line.
Vertical
Vertical—Creates a vertical construction line.
Horizontal—Creates a horizontal construction line.
Orthogonal Construction—Creates an orthogonal construction line between the set or selected points.
Box
Construction Box - Diagonal—Creates a construction box by selecting diagonal corners.
Construction Box—Creates a construction box defined from the center of the box and a corner.
Circle
Construction Circle—Creates a construction circle defined by the diameter.
Construction Circle - Center/Radius—Creates a construction circle defined by a center point and radius.
Tangent
Tangent Chord Construction—Creates a single construction line tangent to two selected circles.
Tangential Chord Construction Line—Creates construction lines tangent to the selected circles.
Offset
Horizontal Offset—Creates a horizontal construction line offset from a selected reference.
Vertical Offset—Creates a vertical construction line offset from a selected reference.
Oblique Offset—Creates an oblique construction line offset from the selected reference.
Offset Line Two Points—Creates a construction line offset from 2 selected points.
-45 Degree Offset—Creates a construction line at a –45° angle offset from the selected reference.
+45 Degree Offset—Creates a construction line at a 45° angle offset from the selected reference.
Parallel Offset—Creates a construction line parallel to and offset from the selected reference.
Crossing
Horizontal and Vertical Construction Lines—Creates a horizontal and a vertical construction line.
At 45 and 135 Degrees—Creates 2 construction lines, one at each of these angles.
At 30, 60, 120, and 150 Degrees—Creates 4 construction lines, one at each of these angles.
Oblique
Oblique—Creates an oblique construction line.
Construction Line Two Points—Creates a construction line between 2 selected points.
+45 Degree—Creates a construction line at a 45° angle.
-45 Degree—Creates a construction line at a –45° angle.
Centerline—Creates a centerline between two selected points.
Perpendicular—Creates a construction line perpendicular to 2 selected points.
Delete All—Deletes all construction lines.
