About the Diagramming Tab
Use these tools to manipulate design objects.
Clipboard Group
Use the Clipboard commands to cut, copy, and paste design items.
• Paste—Click the arrow to display paste options.
◦ Paste Shapes—Pastes a new shape of the copied components. Conductors are filtered out.
◦ Paste—Pastes a new instance of all copied design objects including conductors.
• Cut—Cuts the selected design object and copies it to the clipboard.
• Copy—Copies the selected design object.
Explorers Group
Use the Explorers commands to create or open design sheets and items.
• Design Explorer—Opens the
Design Explorer dialog box.
• Catalog Explorer—Opens the
Catalog Explorer dialog box.
• Explorers—Displays an additional command:
◦ Model Explorer—Opens the
Model Explorer dialog box.
Insert Group
Use the Insert commands to instance catalog items.
• Instance Group—Opens the
GroupsCatalog Selector dialog box to instance a group.
• Route—Click the arrow to route a fiber, cable, or highway.
◦ Route Fiber—Opens the
Catalog Selector dialog box to route a fiber.
◦ Route Highway—Opens the
Catalog Selector dialog box to route a highway.
◦ Route Cable\Pipeline—Opens the
Catalog Selector dialog box to route a cable or pipeline.
◦ Follow Fiber—Automatically routes a fiber after you select a fiber to follow, a start point, and an end point.
• —Opens the
Catalog Selector dialog box to instance a block.
• —Opens the
Catalog Selector dialog box to instance a draft group.
• —Opens the
Select member shape to place dialog box to instance a member in a variable group.
• Insert—Displays an additional command:
◦ Instance Port—Opens the
Catalog Selector dialog box to instance a port.
Modify Group
Use the Modify commands to modify instanced shapes.
• Extend across sheets—Prompts to select a location for the cross-sheet graphics and opens the
Select Sheet dialog box.
• Edit Fiber—Enters edit mode for the selected fiber.
• Edit Highway—Enters edit mode for the selected highway. Click the arrow to display additional commands for editing highways:
◦ Add fibers—Prompts to select a start point on a fiber to route it to a highway.
◦ Remove fibers—Prompts you to select a fiber to remove from a highway.
• Replace Shape—Click the arrow to display commands to replace artifact or port shapes:
◦ Replace Shape—Opens the artifact shapes dialog box.
◦ Replace PortShape Graphics—Opens the
Replace portshape graphics dialog box.
• —Opens the
Properties dialog box.
• —Deletes the selected object.
• —Opens the
Select a Color dialog box.
• Click Modify to display the following commands:
◦ Reassign Shape—Opens the
Reassign Shape dialog box.
◦ Place Shape—Attaches another instance of the selected shape to the pointer.
◦ Group Format Copy—Copies the cutaway format from the first variable group selected to the second variable group selected.
◦ Open Shape—Opens the shape for editing.
◦ Close Shape—Closes the shape and opens scenery for editing.
◦ Reparent—Prompts to select a component to reparent the selected object.
◦ Orphan—Orphans the selected object.
Transformation Group
Use the Transformation group to move, rotate, scale and flip design objects.
• —Opens the
By X and
By Y boxes at the bottom of the main window. Click
Move to display an additional command:
◦ Move to Sheet—Opens the
Select Sheet dialog box.
• Rotate—Prompts to select a point and opens the
By X and
By Y boxes at the bottom of the main window.
• Magnify—Prompts to select a point and opens the
By X and
By Y boxes at the bottom of the main window.
• Flip—Flips the selected object. Click the arrow to select
Flip Vertical or
Flip Horizontal.
Label Group
Use the Label commands to add labels to design objects or sheets.
• Click Add Label to display an additional command:
◦ Add Label—Opens the
Create Label dialog box.
◦ Add Sheet Label—Opens the
Create Label for Sheet dialog box.
Cable Group
Use the Cable group to create and modify cables.
• Create Cable—Opens the
Select Cable dialog box to create a cable from the selected wires.
• —Prompts to select a cable to add the selected wire or cable. Click
Modify Cores to display additional commands.
◦ Add Member—Prompts to select a cable to add the selected wire or cable.
◦ Remove Member—Prompts to select a cable to remove the selected wire or cable.
• —Prompts to select a cable decoration to move.
• —Prompts to select a shield port to route a shield fiber.
Crossovers Group
Use the Crossovers group to add or remove crossovers.
• Crossovers—Click the arrow to add or remove crossovers.
◦ Add—Automatically adds fiber crossovers.
◦ Remove—Removes fiber crossovers.
Update Group
The Update group includes commands to update labels and shapes.
• Labels—Click the arrow to display more commands for updating labels.
◦ Update Current Sheet—Updates all labels, derived parameters, tables, and cross references on the current sheet.
◦ Update All Sheets—Updates all labels, derived parameters, tables, and cross references on all design sheets.
• Groupshape—Click the arrow to display update groupshape commands.
◦ Shape on All Sheets—Updates multiple variable groupshapes on all design sheets.
◦ Shape on Current Sheet—Updates multiple variable groupshapes on the current sheet.
◦ Update Shape—Updates the selected variable groupshape.
Sheet Group
Use the Sheet group to change the sheet template and edit sheet parameters.
• Change Sheet Format—Opens the
Change Sheet Format dialog box.
• Sheet Parameters—Opens the
Sheet Properties dialog box.
